All-time rankings are always a hot topic of discussion, and even more so when they involve the thorny subject of duos. Shaq has put his foot down though: 10 duos, 20 names, a top 10. Here we go.
There has always been a « mystery » surrounding the most successful duos, those two exceptional players who combine their strengths to form an unstoppable entity. Of course, Shaquille O’Neal has his place there, he is at the origin of the last three-peat in date with Kobe Bryant.
It is the Big Cactus that has relayed a list ranking the 10 best duos in history. Shaq is careful to point out that he « didn’t make this list, but [he’s] okay with it, » giving his seal of approval. Here it is:
It is therefore a very « purple and gold » top 3 that is proposed here. O’Neal is at the top with the Black Mamba, ahead of Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who won 5 rings in the 80s. Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and their 6 titles would be here « only » 3rd.
Karl Malone and John Stockton pay for their inability to never have been champions, while Steph Curry succeeds in being the only player twice present in the ranking : once with Kevin Durant, and once with Klay Thompson !
Obviously, such a top 10 has not failed to make people react, and there is no ultimate good answer to such an attempt. However, many find the place of Shaq and Kobe somewhat high, especially if we judge by the number of titles. Everyone will make up their own mind.
