Scottie Pippen: ‘I want to make it clear: I was as great a player as Michael Jordan’

Scottie Pippen

Scottie Pippen is making the rounds of the media to promote his book, and this promotion is on par with the one he did a few months ago for his brand of bourbon. He multiplies the polemical exits and the tackles towards Michael Jordan. The last decla that will make talk, the one to GQ concerning once again MJ. Considered forever as Jordan’s lieutenant, he wanted to ‘put things straight’.

« I’m not upset about it (being considered MJ’s lieutenant). I wanted people to know, and to set the record straight: I was as great a player as Michael Jordan. Only one player collects MVP awards, that’s the explanation. But beyond that, we were great teammates, we were great together, important to each other, and we won together. There is no need to think that I was selfish in any way during this adventure.

Regarding their association, in another interview, this time on Good Morning America, when asked if Jordan would have been as successful without him, he replies without hesitation:

« No. But I don’t think I would have been successful without him. I think we complemented each other in many ways. We complemented each other and pushed each other to be great. »

We warn, we won’t hear the last of Scottie in the coming days.
