Former player of the bad boys Detroit Pistons, John Salley says nobody including Michael Jordan deserves to be called the greatest player of all time without experiencing all NBA legends.

Michael Jordan is considered a master of the sport of basketball and the best ever to hold one. He dominated every season he played in the league from the late 80s through the 90s era. He was one of the most exciting players in the league and became a prolific scorer averaging a career-high of 37.1 points per game and 30.1 points in total by the end of his reign.

He led arguably the greatest team of all time, the Chicago Bulls trio along with Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, who were defensive juggernauts put beside him. Together, they dominated the 90s winning six NBA titles in total by 1998. MJ helped them achieve two three-peats and won several other supporting awards along the way.

Former NBA player John Salley says Michael Jordan does not deserve to be called GOAT

In a recent episode of the Pardon My Take podcast, former Detroit Pistons player John Salley weighed in on the never-ending GOAT debate. He has some interesting opinions, he said, “The reason I say that Michael Jordan is not the greatest of all time is the same reason Michael says he’s not the greatest of all time, because he didn’t get to play against the other greats of all time.”

He further continued saying, “You can be the greatest of that decade. So in the 90’s, from 1991 to 1998, well from really 1988 to 1998, Michael Jordan was the best. Period, right? But then before that, it was Magic (Johnson) and (Larry) Bird, and before that, it was Dr. J (Julius Erving). And then after Michael, was Allen Iverson and Kobe (Bryant). So, Kobe from 2000 to 2010, nobody better than Kobe.”
